Free Community Event with the Nickel Plate Heritage Railroad!
Join us Nickel Plate Heritage Railroad’s 2nd Annual Community Day, where guests can enjoy touch-a-truck, food vendors, community partner booths, entertainment, train safety information, and tours of historic train cars.
All aboard the historic Monon caboose for a brief scenic trip across the White River and back from Forest Park. Rides depart from Forest Park. $5 Caboose Ride tickets must be purchased ahead of time.
Locomotive Cab rides are also available for 18+ adults at $20 a ticket.

Do I need a ticket to come to the event?
While this is a free event, we encourage attendees to still sign in for a ticket to help us prepare supplies for the day!
Do I need to RSVP for a Caboose Ride?
A separate ticket purchase is required for our Community Day Caboose Rides. We highly encourage attendees to pre-purchase Caboose ride tickets as these will fill up quickly.
Will food be available?
We are working with local food trucks to bring in an option or two of some great eateries!
Do I need to RSVP for a train tour?
Our Community Day Train Tours will be self guided and open throughout the duration of the event. Complimentary popcorn and water will be available aboard the train.
Will there be bathroom facilities?
There is a bathroom facility located directly south of the Hobbs Station Depot. This is a short walking distance from the Station.
Where do I park?
Parking is available in the grass area located north of the of festivities. Parking signage will be placed near the area. Additional parking can be found near the parks office lot or lot near the carousel. Please refrain from parking near shelters.
What is “Pay What You Can” Garage Sale?
Customers pay what they can afford or what they feel the product is worth. All purchases help Nickel Plate Heritage Railroad continue to raise funds for our mission of continual immersive experiences, education, and continued preservation of the railroad. Cash and card payments are accepted, however change cannot be guaranteed for cash purchases.
Is the train ADA accessible?
Historic train cars are not wheelchair accessible; all seating is located upstairs and tour spaces are upstairs.

No refunds or exchanges. We cannot refund or issue new tickets for missed train rides, medical emergencies and other ticket issues.
We highly recommend you purchase ticket protection. Ticket protection must be purchased at time of ticket purchase.
Trip Protection can be added for 20% of your ticket price at the time of purchase.
(For example, a $40 ticket with Trip Protection costs $44.)
This fee is non-refundable once purchased.
