This Saturday, the Nickel Plate Express will celebrate one-year of excursions in Hamilton County…and what a year it’s been!
Celebrating America’s birthday on the rails that helped grow and build our great nation is both fitting and poetic. As the cross roads of America, Indiana owes a special debt to the railroad.
In honor of that, the Nickel Plate Express will be celebrating Independence Day with rides on July 4th and 5th. Here’s everything you need to know if you’re riding the train Independence Day weekend:
On August 30, 2018, the first of the Nickel Plate Express Santa Fe cars were delivered to their new home on the Nickel Plate line, right in downtown Arcadia. Almost a year later, the Nickel Plate Express will return to Arcadia’s Main Street, boarding passengers in the quaint town for the first time since opening September 15.
It seems like ages ago that the Nickel Plate Express was starting its maiden voyage on a scorching hot day in late September. Our team was overwhelmed by the support of the community on our big day…400 people came out to ride an celebrate with us. That support from the community has followed us through the rest of this inaugural season. Without a doubt, Hamilton County has been a wonderful place for our train to call home.
